Have a list
Extended family sessions are a great way to update your family photo collection across the generations. There are often many different families coming together and many different combinations for photos are wanted so it is best to make a list beforehand so we don’t miss out on any. In any session we will aim for these types of combinations:
- Individual families
- Siblings
- Each child separately
- Each generation
- All grandchildren
- All grandchildren with grandparents etc.
But please have a think if there are any beyond this. Bring the list and best to allocate someone in charge of this list (as I dont know everyone!) and they can help me shuffle everyone around as need be.
What to wear
There are 2 ways you can approach your extended family session and that really is up to you and your family, and what kind of family you are! If you are a family that would like to dress in matching tones, please do. You might ask everyone to dress in tones such as blues / whites / greys/ creams or whichever colour pallete you might like.
However if your family is not that type, then please don’t! There are no rules in regards to avoiding patterns or colours as a vareity of colours can make for beautiful photos! Please just avoid plain black t-shirts. Oh, and also please dont all arrive in matching jeans and white t-shirts!
Prepare the kids
The only preparation needed for the kids is please having them arrive on a full stomach.
Late afternoon sessions can be near their dinner time so please don’t let them arrive hungry and feed them before and bring water and snacks incase.
Also, a few little treats to get them over the line for a few smiley, looking at the camera shots will never go astray!
